Tags: baby bearded dragon growth rate
Bearded dragon owners. Have you kept growth charts from when they were a baby? If so, what were your results?
Im just wanting to compare them with my guys to see how they are getting on. your help will be appreciated. Thanx.
Well every week or so from when they are babies preferably as they grow so quick.
I have seven of these lovely creatures and everyone here eats the same thing. This doesn’t mean they grow at the same rate, or consume the same amounts.
I have four siblings from the same clutch, all the same age. They were 6 wk. old when I got them. One of those, a female, took off and grew twice as quickly as any of the other 3. She was quickly twice, then three times larger than the others before her growth rate slowed a bit at 7 mo. of age.
Her three brothers stayed the same basically, growing at the same slower rate until Boom! outta nowhere a month later, one of them took off and double in size compared to the other two. He quickly caught up with his sister. They are about the same size now and growing at the same rate. The other two are still growing more slowly. I’m sure they’ll get as large as their larger siblings, but they’ll do it at their own rate and pace.
I have another sibling pair (both female) which are the same age and one is twice as big as the other and increasing the gap daily.
My last and newest guy is barely as long as my finger so I have no clue what rate he’ll grow out at.
The only thing I monitor is their weight, weekly on the babies up to 3-4 mo. and then every 3-4 wk. from then on. As long as they are gaining or remaining the same, there’s no cause for concern.
They are interesting creatures, for sure, and each grows at it’s own pace. You can have a clutch of 30 all the same size at hatching and 3 mo. later just not believe it, based on the assorted sizes.
You really can’t compare one to the another. Each will grow at its own rate. Some grow very quickly while others take their time.
Either way, it’s fun to watch them.
Good luck and enjoy your pet.

Bearded Dragon : 0823964124 $1.97 The bearded dragon got its name from the spiky flap of skin around its snout. The flap puffs up like a bristly beard when the bearded dragon feels threatened. But the bearded dragon is not nearly as ferocious as it, looks, preferring to run away rather than get into a fight. Natives of the Australian interior, these lizards are popular pets. |
