Bearded Dragon Doesn’t Poop

How often should a 6 year old male bearded dragon poop and shed?

My male BD, 6 years old, doesn’t poop very often. I wouldn’t think it is a problem; when he was a hatchling he went every few days and as he grew it stretched to about a week. When I was feeding him worms, he pooped once every few days on time, but now I switched his diet to pellets and crickets and he hasn’t pooped in over a week. I feed him around 12 crickets and he gets a mouthful of pellets every day, am I feeding him too little? How often is he supposed to shed? It’s been over a month and he has finally started shedding.

He can run around, drink and eat fine, and doesn’t look sick.

It’s very cold in my room at night, could that be the problem?

I am taking it that you have a UVB light on him with having him for so long but change it if it is over 6 months old.
Pellets are not that great a food. Much better to get the fresh greens and veggies in him. Mine have been on super worms for a long time now and I use crickets as a treat every couple of weeks due to them not eating them. They just prefer the super worms which I am glad of so I don’t have all those crickets to keep.
Try some foods from my list and see if he is interested in any of these. I really think he needs a little better diet which will also aid in him going to poo.

The bearded dragon got its name from the spiky flap of skin around its snout. The flap puffs up like a bristly beard when the bearded dragon feels threatened. But the bearded dragon is not nearly as ferocious as it, looks, preferring to run away rather than get into a fight. Natives of the Australian interior, these lizards are popular pets.
