Bearded Dragon help!?
My bearded dragon barely basks anymore we did move some things around but not too much. He used to bask the whole day now he just goes under his log. We had no top so we put a towel on top of the cage and we noticed the temp go from like 80 to 100. He also opens his mouth so what does that mean? Also me and my dad pet on the side of his mouth like his lips we pet both of them and he opens his mouth and one time he bit me (just a little nip no blood or cut) should we stop doing that or does he like it cuz now he closes his eyes when we do it. Thanks!
.If he is always under a log it’s a good guess that it’s just too hot for him in his tank he need to get cooled down.
when a beardie opens his mouth it also means he’s hot sometimes mine will do it too it’s a way for them to cool down without moving into a cooler area.
maybe he bit you cause he’s just in a bad mood from being overheated? If he closes his eyes now he must like it so something made him snippy.
I would take off the towel and get a screen top. It will keep the heat in better than no top but let air circulate so it doesn’t get too hot for him.
