Bearded Dragon ordered on strictly protein diet.?
I took my dragon to a vet because she was barely walking. The stupid person who sold her to me hand picked all the items I supposedly needed for her. She did not sell me a UVB light (only a basking light) or vitamin/calcium powder with D3. Now she has metabolic bone disease. I’m trying to nurse her back to health. Oddly to me, the vet told me to stop all vegetation and only feed her crickets and worms, coated with the D3 calcium powder. Does that sound right?
Yes listen to what the vet told you. It will take sometime for your beardie to recover, but she will.
Make sure your basking area is a good temperature as that will help in the digestion of your beardies food. Make sure you have a really good UVB light as that will aide in the calcium to go throughout her body.
When I got my daughters bearded, we discovered she had MBD. She could barley lift herself off the ground and her right front leg was completely limp.
We kept her on a 100% protein diet and saturated the crickets in calcium dust every meal. She is doing great and can sprint around her cage.
With the proper care your beardie will be 100% sooner than you think.
