Bearded dragon hurt? – scales on patch of face gone -?
I woke up this morning and went to feed my bearded dragon (2yr old) – usually feed dandilions and clover from my field (live in middle of no where and not sprayed with pesticides) Have had him for about a year and a half with no problems, went through molts fine with the occasional piece not coming loose for a couple of weeks but soaking him always seemed to do the trick. (i never picked at the pieces or scales peeling)
He hasn’t molted for some time now and it looks as though his face is just starting, but when i woke up this morning there seemed to be a gash or place below his lower lip where the scales had fallen off and there was some orange/red showing through. It doesn’t seem to be bothering him.
I work in a small animal vet clinic and all our books say just to clean it with benodine but were not sure if it is a blister or a burn. There is no swelling so i don’t believe its an absess.
Any other ideas?
he either scratched himself or if u have a log or hideout in his tank then he could have cut himself on it. well that’s all the ideas i have he also could be infected from what u feed him with out pesticides some probably are harmless but some if fed over and over could eventually lead to infection and or death.
