Bearded Dragon False URI?

Ok so for the last 2 weeks my Bearded Dragon, Puff has been acting like he had a Respiratory Infection. He was forcefully exhaling, breathing heavy, and breathing was his mouth slightly open. I was so sure it was a URI but didn’t have any money to the vet (I had just paid tuition and bought books). The other day I noticed that his left nostril was shedding. Today he finally shed it and now he seems completely fine. Has anyone else had this happen? Could this have caused the URI symptoms?

Yes, shed in his nose will make him “gape” some and puff a bit.

Think about it – you have a loose booger in your own nose, it tickles and you breathe funny.

Totally normal. No URI at all. (Thank goodness!)

One other thing – do NOT pull the shed out of his nose. Let it be. It’ll work out itself (You can help with a nice soak, however. Just don’t physically mess with it.)
